Mary Offer – associate conductor
Mary Offer’s association with the Ripieno Choir dates back to 2017 when she was appointed as our apprentice conductor while still at school. She read music at Jesus College, Cambridge, where she was a choral scholar, followed by an MMus in composition at the Royal Academy of Music, where she graduated with distinction.
She is an award-winning composer, whose works have been performed by The Riot Ensemble, CHROMA, BCMG and the Nash Ensemble, at venues ranging from Southwark Cathedral to the Wigmore Hall. Recent commissions include the choir of Jesus College Cambridge, the Ripieno Choir, and and the choir of All Saints, Fulham.
Mary takes a keen interest in collaborating with living authors, filmmakers and performers, and founded her own New Music Festival while at university. She continues to explore new music as a conductor, having been musical director for a production of her own opera Esther: a voice for the voiceless by Cambridge University Opera Society, and for an original musical premiere at the Edinburgh Fringe 2022.
She has been awarded a full scholarship to compose a new opera with Guildhall School of Music and Drama in association with the Royal Opera House.
Mary will be directing the Ripieno Choir’s Twelfth Night concert on 5 January 2025.
