As spring approaches we look forward to brighter days, warmer weather and Easter. What better time for an uplifting concert on the theme of eternal light, with music of vivid brightness?

Given the superb organ at St Mary’s Ewell, we are delighted to welcome guest organist George Inscoe (Croydon Minster, and previously Norwich Cathedral) to perform with us three masterpieces of the choral repertoire: JS Bach’s sparkling and virtuosic motet Singet dem Herrn; Edgar Bainton’s iconic Edwardian anthem And I saw a new heaven; and the ethereal In paradisum from Gabriel Fauré’s Requiem.

We also have jewels from the golden age of English choral music, by William Byrd, Orlando Gibbons, Thomas Tallis and Henry Purcell. Contemporary composers Eric Whitacre and Bob Chilcott provide a modern interpretation of the theme of eternal light, and we shall be giving the first performance of a new version of Run to you by American a cappella group Pentatonix, specially arranged by our musical director Patrick Allies.

Come, listen, and be enlightened!
