The Ripieno Choir was started over 75 years ago by a group of friends who took great pleasure from singing together. Today, although we can no longer meet in a member’s house, the choir remains a modestly sized group of friends, who love to make music together; and who are ideally suited to the intricate and intimate chamber music from the Renaissance and Baroque periods.

Our Sing we at pleasure programme covers a rich tapestry of emotional narratives, offering vivid expressions of love, longing, and divine inspiration: from the expressive L’Amante Modesto by Barbara Strozzi, to the light and lively Sing We at Pleasure by Thomas Weelkes. We also discover Claudio Monteverdi in passionate mode, and an unusually jubilant Thomas Tomkins.

We will delight in the presence of a theorbo, brought to life by lutenist, Kristiina Watt. Kristiina regularly performs with leading groups in the historical performance scene and featured on The Marian Consort’s latest CD ‘Una Poesia Muta’ in which her performance was reviewed as ‘flawless’ by Gramophone Magazine.
