Choral Scholarship Scheme

The Ripieno Choir are keen to foster a love of choral singing in aspiring young singers. We are therefore delighted to announce the launch of a new Choral Scholarship scheme for the 2025-26 season.

The Ripieno Choir is an adventurous chamber choir of about thirty experienced singers, drawn from south-west London and north Surrey, directed by Patrick Allies. Our grounding is in the music of the Renaissance and Baroque, but our wide repertoire extends right through to contemporary composers, and includes rarely-performed and rediscovered music. We aim to achieve the highest musical standards within an enjoyable, sociable environment.

The scholarship is designed to support a young (aged 18-30) tenor, baritone or bass singer who aspires to be a professional musician. The scheme is open to anyone who enjoys choral singing, particularly those who are either studying music or starting out in a musical career. The singer will join The Ripieno Choir for a year and receive a stipend of £1,200. Some paid solo performance opportunities may also be available, in line with our typical programmes. The successful candidate is expected to take an active role both in rehearsals and concerts as well as contributing to the active social life of the choir.

The Ripieno Choral scholarship is set up in memory of Peter Lawson, in recognition of his intense love of choral music and desire to share this with young singers.
