Members of the choir

Join us

If you are interested in joining a high standard, local choir, which specialises in renaissance and baroque choral music, we would like to hear from you. Our membership is about thirty-five singers, drawn from a large area around Esher.

At present, we have vacancies for a soprano and a bass: if you are an experienced singer and are interested in what we do, please get in touch. For other voices, we keep a waiting list for when places become available: please do contact us if you have a strong interest.

Joining the Choir

After an initial trial period, acceptance into the choir is subject to a successful audition, consisting of vocal exercises, a prepared piece chosen by the singer, and sight-reading (usually a piece from the Renaissance period). Members are expected to attend at least 80% of rehearsals, and to re-audition every three years.

Rehearsals

Our intense, but thoroughly enjoyable, weekly rehearsals take place on Sunday evenings from 7.45 to 9.45 at Our Lady of Lourdes, Hampton Court Way, KT7 0LP.

We usually rehearse for 10 weeks prior to our main concert each term, with additional rehearsals to brush up on our carols and to prepare for awaydays and tours.

Student involvement

We are also keen to hear from young singers of sixth form or gap year age who may be interested in short-term membership in preparation for a university choral scholarship. Vacancies are limited, but please contact us to discuss if you are interested.

In addition, we welcome enquiries from students interested in our innovative Apprentice conductor scheme.

For further details or to arrange an audition please phone Nick on 020 8399 2714 or email ku.gro.riohconeipirnull@xov.

Tours and awaydays

Foreign tours and local awaydays are joyful additions to choir life, providing time to socialise as well as to sing together outside the conventional concert format. Members are encouraged to be a part of these whenever possible.
