If you are interested in joining a high standard, local choir, which specialises in renaissance and baroque choral music, we would like to hear from you. At present, we don’t have any vacancies, but if you are an experienced singer and are interested in what we do, please get in touch.
Choir membership is about thirty-five singers, drawn from a large area around Esher.
Joining the Choir
After an initial trial period, acceptance into the choir is subject to a successful audition. This will consist of vocal exercises, a prepared piece chosen by the singer, and sight-reading (usually a piece from the Renaissance period).
Choir members are expected to attend at least 80% of rehersals, and to re-audition every three years.
We are also keen to hear from young singers of sixth form or gap year age who might be interested in short-term membership in preparation for a university choral scholarship. Vacancies are currently very limited, but please contact us to discuss if you are interested.
In addition, we welcome enquiries from students interested in our innovative Apprentice Conductor scheme.
For further details or to arrange an audition please ring Nick on 020 8399 2714 or e-mail firstname.lastname@example.org.
Our intense, but thoroughly enjoyable, weekly rehearsals take place on Sunday evenings from 7.45 to 9.45 at the United Reformed Church, Speer Road, Thames Ditton, KT7 0PL (view map – opens in a new tab). We usually rehearse for 10 weeks prior to our main concert each term, plus additional weeks to brush up on our carols and to prepare for ‘awaydays’ and tours.
Tours and away days
Foreign tours and local ‘awaydays’ are an important part of choir life, and members are expected to be a part of these whenever possible.
